INTRODUCTION

Good morning, beloved congregation! Today, we gather to dive deep into the transformative power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. As Pentecostal believers, we understand the significance of the Holy Spirit’s presence and work among us. Before we explore the Holy Spirit’s role in our lives, let us first acknowledge His place within the Trinity. The Holy Spirit, along with the Father and the Son, is a distinct yet inseparable person of the Godhead. He proceeds from the Father and the Son, and together they are one God in three persons. The Holy Spirit plays a vital role in revealing God’s truth, convicting hearts of sin, and empowering believers for service. Let us open our hearts and minds to receive His guidance and revelation today.

SERMON TEXT

John 14:16-17 (NIV) – “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth.”

THREE WORKS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT:

I. The Promise of the Holy Spirit:

Scripture: John 14:16-17 (NIV) – “And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth.”

As believers, let us daily surrender ourselves to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Reflect on areas of your life where you may be resisting His guidance. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any hidden sins or attitudes that need to be confessed and surrendered. Allow the Holy Spirit to transform your heart and mind, empowering you to live a life that honors God in all you do.

II. The Fruits of the Holy Spirit:

Scripture: Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV) – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.”

Consider how the fruits of the Spirit are manifesting in your life. Are there areas where you need to grow in displaying these fruits? Pray for the Holy Spirit to work in you, shaping your character to reflect the likeness of Christ more fully. Seek opportunities to practice these fruits in your interactions with others, demonstrating the love of God in tangible ways.

III. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit:

Scripture: Acts 1:8 (NIV) – “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

If you have not yet experienced the baptism of the Holy Spirit, earnestly seek this empowering encounter with God. Step out in faith, believing that God desires to fill you with His Spirit and equip you for greater works in His kingdom. Trust in the promise that God gives the Holy Spirit to those who ask and be open to receiving all that He has for you. Allow the Holy Spirit to ignite a passion for prayer, worship, and serving others in your life.
